“We’ve had a pretty loud and open stance on you will not be able to hide behind anonymous commenting or posts that we feel are a danger to the community,” Stephenson told WRAL on Monday. “This is something that the community deserves to know. They’re spending money with this organization.”
An opinion on transgender is a “danger to the community.” Wow. This is a justification for someone expressing THEIR personal opinion anonymously about transgenderism and then being unmasked / basically doxxed. So expressing a negative opinion about transgender requires doxxing, unmasking and a whole lot of outrage?
This is the difference between the left and the right. I personally don’t give a damn what YOUR opinion is. I personally feel much closer to the woman that tried to express HER opinion – not her organization’s, not as a community leader, but as a person.
I personally think PREACHING transgender has caused a LOT of harm to a lot of people. Maybe some it has helped – but there surely are a number that HAVE come out and indicated they really wish they had NOT gone down that path. Are they just troubled and trying to find something that makes sense for them? Do they need to do body part swap to make them feel good about themselves? I don’t really know. AND I don’t really care. You do YOU and I’ll do ME.
What I do care about is trying to demonize someone for THEIR opinion. Several people claiming to withdraw their support – “I always looked at what she did as inclusive and promoting small business, but to see such an ugly and hateful comment happen, it made me feel really conflicted.” So this person actually has never been seen doing anything that wasn’t “inclusive” nor ANY kind of action detrimental from this person supporting all local businesses. BUT BECAUSE SHE HAS AN OPINION differing from YOURS, she now needs to cough up an apology, receive sensitivity training and provide FINANCIAL SUPPORT for some Raleigh Merchant’s Association member that DOES deal with trans issues? I don’t think so.
Will be interesting to see how this turns out. I like the last line in the article – “Shop Local Raleigh is dedicated to a culture of diversity, inclusion and respect.” Well, as long as you feed into the theory of trans. Apparently the organization doesn’t believe in respect for the at least 50% of Americans who likely feel completely opposite.
You know what a GOOD response MIGHT have been?
- NOT breaking her anonymity because the Facebook admins have a different opinion.
- Asking WHY she feels that way about the trans movement – I’m sure she HAS her reasons.
- Jeez, maybe explaining why you think HER opinion IS off – I’m sure you have YOUR reasons – don’t you?
- Maybe just moving on if you DON’T agree with her opinion. It’s the internet – you’re GOING to get your feelings hurt.
- Acting like adults and not raging third graders when someone disagrees with you.
Amazingly, there IS more than ONE opinion on this topic. By trying to shut down and demonize any conflicting opinion? Now THAT’S where the shame and disgust belongs. I will personally defend YOUR right to HAVE an opinion – regardless of whether I like it/don’t like it or agree/disagree. You stifle opinion and discussion – YOU are the problem.
